Preparing for a Unity® Accounting Update

Introduction

Unity® Accounting  (previously esiLaw 360) updates play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functionality and performance of your Unity® Accounting software. Software updates bring new features, bug fixes, and improved security to your system, allowing you to take advantage of Unity® Accounting.

However, updates can also disrupt the normal operation of your business if not properly planned and executed.

In this guide, we will outline the importance of performing software updates and provide steps you can take to better prepare for any update, minimizing any potential disruption to your work. By following these guidelines, you can ensure that your software stays up-to-date and running smoothly.

Steps:

  • Performing a Backup
  • Taking Note of Your Activation Key
  • Getting a List of Your Unity® Accounting Usernames
  • Checking if You Are on the Latest Version of Unity® Accounting

Performing a Backup

Unity® Accounting Cloud performs automatic backups daily at 4 pm PST. But you should also perform a manual backup before updating to ensure no data will be lost. This is how you perform a manual data backup if your database is not on Unity® Accounting Cloud.

Steps

  • Log in to Unity® Accounting
  • Click on Maintenance > Backup and Restore
  • In the Backup & Restore window, click on Backup Now

TIPS

  • Navigate to the file location of your backup via Windows File Explorer and copy your backup file to an external USB Drive for safe storage.
