esiLaw to Unity® Accounting Installation Troubleshooting Guide

Over the weekend, esiLaw was rebranded to Unity® Accounting. You can read more about the release here. For those who have not yet updated to Unity® Accounting, please refer to this installation guide to troubleshoot a common issue when attempting to update the application.

As always, we recommend performing a backup before updating your application. Read more about Preparing for an Update.

______

Installation Folder Name Change

Due to the name change, the application update has created a new installation folder under C:\Users{Name of user}\AppData\Local\Unity Accounting.

There are two ways to proceed with the update:

Option 1: REQUIRES YOUR LICENSE KEY

  1. Install the application update, either by following the update prompt or manually downloading it here: Unity Accounting-Download
  2. Enter the existing activation key after the update. (Your activation key is the unique esiLaw license key you received when you first purchased the application.)
  3. This will activate the license under the newly updated installation folder, allowing you to log in to the application.

Note: If you can’t find your license key, access it by logging into My Account at https://myaccount.esilaw.com, then go to Licenses –> Manage –> View –> and Copy. Find detailed instructions at kb360.esilaw.com/knowledge-base/find-your-activation-key. If this option does not work for you, please contact customer support.

Option 2: DOES NOT REQUIRE YOUR LICENSE KEY

  1. Install the application update, either by following the update prompt or manually downloading it here: Unity Accounting-Download
  2. Open File Explorer and copy and paste the license file (esilaw.lix) from C:\Users\Name of user\AppData\Local\esilaw  to  C:\Users\Name of user\AppData\Local\Unity Accounting.
    (Example file name: “C:\Users\John.Smith\AppData\Local\esilaw”)
  3. Launch the application, automatically validating the license and enabling the user to log in seamlessly.

If you run into any other issues, please contact customer support.
